A Year of Great Dates

August

a year of great dates

Trust God

Your marriage is part of a bigger story—a story being written by God. And trusting him with your relationship sometimes means loosening our grip and leaning into his goodness, even when the road feels uncertain.

God’s faithfulness in the past can give us courage for the future. So this month, set aside time to reflect on how he has shown up for both of you along the way.

Pick a date and make time for connection. And before you go, take a few minutes to listen to this month’s short, uplifting podcast. It’s a great way to start your night together.

August Date Night Ideas

The Idea: Life’s detours can shape your journey in powerful ways. This date is all about embracing the unexpected together and trusting God with the road ahead.

How It Works:

  1. Go on a Scenic Drive Without GPS
Pick a general direction or area and take turns choosing which way to go at each intersection.

  2. Talk About Past Detours
Share a time in your marriage or life when things didn’t go as planned—but God showed up anyway. Use the conversation starters provided to enrich your time together.

  3. Pray for the Road Ahead
Before you head home, pull over and pray together for wisdom, courage, and trust in God for the journey ahead.

The Idea: God’s faithfulness is woven through every season. This date is all about reflecting on your journey together, remembering His hand in your story, and worshiping Him for all He’s done.

How It Works:

  1. Draw a Timeline of Your Marriage
Include major milestones, answered prayers, and hard seasons.

  2. Name the Faith Moments
Talk about when you saw God’s hand in different seasons over the years—even if it wasn’t clear at the time.

  3. Worship Together
End the night by listening to a worship song that reminds you of his faithfulness, and talk through the conversation starters provided.

The Idea: Trust grows stronger when you bring it to God together. This date is all about sharing your hopes, praying for each other, and enjoying a sweet meal as you lean into His faithfulness.

How It Works:

  1. Make Breakfast for Dinner
Cook your favorite pancakes or waffles together.

  2. Talk About Trusting God
Each of you write down three things you’re trusting God for right now—big or small.

  3. Pray While You Flip
Pray out loud for each other as you cook. Then eat and enjoy! As you eat, talk through the conversation starters provided.

Help you remember your love story and write the next chapter...

Remember the Beginning:

  1. When you think back to when we first met, where do you see God's hand in our story?
  2. What did "trusting God" in marriage mean to you back then?

Reflect on the Journey:

  1. What season of our marriage required the most trust in God?
  2. Share a time when we were unsure how things would work out—but God came through.

Write the Next Chapter:

  1. Where do we feel God leading us as a couple right now?
  2. What steps can we take to trust God more in our daily routines and decisions?

Bonus Tip: Write your answers in a journal to document these reflections and dreams together. It’s a beautiful way to track your progress and see where you’re headed!
