6th Grade Camp

Introducing 6th Graders to the Transit Experience

boys playing tug of war

An annual event designed for 6th graders

Get ready for a jam-packed weekend filled with high-energy teaching, uplifting music, messy games, and lots of fun.

Sixth graders and their small groups are divided into "squads" that compete throughout the weekend. Meaningful small group time means this is a camp you don't want your student to miss!

Date/Location

August 23–25: Rock Eagle Camp, Eatonton, GA

Packing List

We are nervous about this being our student’s first weekend away. What safety precautions have you implemented?

We completely understand. Each year, hundreds of parents trust us with their students for their first weekend away. We take their safety very seriously and keep a low adult leader to student ratio. Dozens of staff members are also onsite the entire weekend.

Will there be a medical professional at camp?

Yes. We will have two registered nurses at camp at all times. If your student needs to bring medication, you can leave it with a nurse at check-in to dispense at camp.

What if my student has a food allergy?

Please let us know when you register, and we will be happy to accommodate your student. Alternative meals are often available.

When is drop-off (check-in) and pickup for the weekend?

Check-in is at Woodstock City Church on Friday, August 23, at 6:00 p.m., and pickup is at Woodstock City Church on Sunday, August 25, at 1:15 p.m. If your student is registered, you will receive more details closer to camp time.

What if my sixth grader doesn’t know many other students?

Then 6th Grade Camp is the perfect place to be! Students will form healthy relationships in their small groups that they will build on for the next three years.

What if my student has a conflicting event or game?

Your student won’t regret prioritizing 6th Grade Camp over an outside activity. While we would love for your student to attend the entire retreat, if that isn’t possible, you may pick them up early.

Will there actually be “camping” at 6th Grade Camp?

No. 6th Grade Camp is not a camping trip. Small groups stay in air-conditioned cabins with their adult leaders. Don’t worry about packing a tent.

How do I register my student or get more details?

Visit transitstudents.org for more information, to register, or to apply for a scholarship. If you have specific questions not answered here, you can email our staff at middleschool@woodstockcity.org.

Can you offer financial support?

Yes. We have scholarships available to families that need assistance. We never want a student to miss an event because of financial issues. You can find an application here
